BETWEEN THE LiNES — Joel LiNES
Step into the world of young Island creative Joel LiNES at GRAFT Studios, Sandown, for his first solo exhibition.
Between the Lines brings together Joel’s creative development, from early experiments and his time studying Fashion Print at Central Saint Martins, through to recent work created through his practice, LiNES CREATiVE. As an end-of-residency exhibition, it offers a glimpse into his world as a young Island designer — what he has made, what he is exploring now, and where his imagination might take him next.
Expect a colourful mix of fashion, print, carnival, costume, puppetry, wearable art, stage design and sound, with work and collaborations connected to New Carnival, Shademakers UK, Boojum & Snark, Sandown Carnival Company and The Bay Regatta.
Joel will also be developing work within the GRAFT studio during the exhibition, giving visitors a chance to see ideas evolve and ask questions about his process, influences and practice.
At the heart of Between the Lines is Joel’s Imaginarium — a collection of ideas, experiments, memories and possibilities brought together as a work in progress. It’s a chance to see not just the finished pieces, but some of the thinking and making behind them.
For Joel, Sandown is home. This exhibition is a chance to share a little of his creative journey so far, and to celebrate the ideas, people and places that have helped shape it.
