Sarah Rae Redrup is an illustrator, visual artist and zine maker based in East Cowes on the Isle of Wight. She holds an MA in Illustration from Falmouth University and works across drawing, collage, digital illustration, film photography and printmaking.

Her practice explores memory, storytelling and human connection through nostalgic, analogue-inspired imagery. Combining hand-drawn elements, photography, found materials and print processes, she creates work examining themes of place, identity and belonging. Drawn to imagery that feels fleeting, dreamy and emotionally raw, her work explores the tension between intimacy and distance. Her portraits are intentionally subtle, often dissolving into layers of texture and mark-making, echoing the way memories fade and transform over time. She is interested in creating images that feel eerily familiar yet unknowable, like stumbling across a page from someone else's diary. 

Recent projects include Island Women Wondering Why (2024), a zine combining portraiture and storytelling to uncover and celebrate the true stories of women on the Isle of Wight, and Fatigue (2026), a mixed-media risograph zine developed through her DIY Artist Residency that explores a love-hate relationship with Island-life. 

Sarah is currently undertaking a DIY Artist Residency with Boojum & Snark in Sandown, developing a new body of work exploring island identity, hidden histories and the tension between the Isle of Wight's image as a tourist paradise and the realities of year-round island life. As part of the residency, she is investigating how alternative printmaking methods, particularly risograph, can be used to foster creative participation, shared making and community connection.

Alongside her studio practice, Sarah is passionate about accessible arts engagement and has delivered creative workshops for both young people and adults. She also writes a Substack newsletter with more than 3000 subscribers, sharing reflections on self-directed creative learning, creative practice and accessible ways for others to develop their artistic skills.

"I'm drawn to the everyday routines and rituals that shape our lives and connect us to one another. Through my work, I want to explore how people leave traces of themselves in places and objects, and how these become woven into personal and collective histories. I'm fascinated by the idea that while we often feel we own places and things, they ultimately outlive us, becoming witnesses to successive generations." 

As an Associate Artist at Graft, Sarah is excited to contribute to Sandown's growing creative community through collaboration, experimentation and shared learning.
