Resident membership is limited to studio members renting a studio in the building. Residents contribute towards public engagement, studio managment, administration or caretaking in some way as part of the community. These members have 24 hour access to the building 365 days a year. Residents also benifit from free submission of works to GRAFT exhibitions and a low 15% commission on gallery sales. Online representation and promotion. 50% discount on room hire of The Reading Room, The Swift Gallery or Old Pidgeon Loft, for meetings, events, exhibitions or workshops.

Would you like a workspace at GRAFT?

We are looking for a range of disciplines to rent studio space and become part of what is offered at GRAFT. Painters, potters, film makers, producers, photographers, printmakers, sculptors, conceptual artists, designers, authors, editors, illustrators, publishers, woodworkers, textile artists and creative, craft, community or heritage freelancers, consultants, entities, small producers or companies are all welcome to visit the studios to see if GRAFT could be a good match.

GRAFT have 7 affordable individual studios to rent in various sizes and room combinations from 12.7- 38.5 metres square. Prices range from £237- £595 per month, inclusive of bills. Applicants wanting to studio share are considered.

Is Resident Studio Membership for you?

  • We are looking for a range of disciplines to rent studio space and become part of what is offered at GRAFT. All creative disciplines are welcome!

  • Individual studios range from 12.7- 38.5 metres square. Prices range from £237- £595 per month, inclusive of bills. Applicants wanting to studio share are considered. There is an annual studio membership fee of £160.

    • 24 hour access to the building 365 days a year.

    • Creative community and professional environment.

    • Free submission of works to GRAFT exhibitions.

    • Low 15% commission on gallery sales.

    • Online representation and promotion.

    • 50% discount on room hire of The Reading Room, The Swift Gallery or Old Pidgeon Loft, for meetings, events, exhibitions or workshops.

  • Resident members must:

    • be commited to their practice and developing work of a professional standard.

    • commit to the studios for a minimum period of 6 months and complete a studio license agreement

    • pay the rent inclusive of utilities/service charge on time.

    • willingly and in a capacity best suited to them, contribute towards public engagement, studio managment, administration or caretaking in some way as part of the community.

    • make good use of and care for the space provided and not let it fall into disuse or poor repair.

    • adhere to the studio policies, conditions of permitted studio use, health and safety guidance and codes of conduct.

    • be a paying member of the studios contributing £160 annually when taking on a space and again upon each licence renewal.

    • have adequate insurance for their practice and contents.

    • apply for small business rates relief on moving in and notify the council when moving out.
