Emma is a traditional signwriter based on the Isle of Wight, working primarily with hand-painted lettering and heritage signwriting techniques.

She is particularly drawn to classical Roman typography and the simplicity of traditional painted lettering, with a strong interest in keeping these historic craft skills alive through contemporary use.  Working closely with individuals ,independent businesses, pubs and community space, her process often begins with conversation, developing ideas collaboratively to create work that feels personal, thoughtful and connected to its surroundings.

Alongside signwriting, Emma also creates murals for public and private spaces across the island.  A central part of her practice is the idea of creating emotional connection through visual transformation, helping people to feel a stronger sense of belonging in the places they inhabit.

Her work values slowness, craftsmanship an meaning over fast-paced branding or corporate design, with an emphasis on creating pieces that feel lasting, individual and made by hand.
